GTA REPLICA
Finally, after nearly a decade the GTA replica came together. Finished configuration utilised a lightly used HSCC 70s Roads Sports spec engine with 45mm carbs mated to a short 5th gearbox and a 9/41 LSD axle. Suspension was fast road with Brembo alloy brake callipers up front. The interior was done in the style of a 60s GTA racecar with a period Corbeau bucket seat and Britax harness. A modern FIA legal rollcage was fitted for safety. Everything was renewed or restored but devilish detail retained a period look.

2000GTV HSCC 70'S ROADSPORTS
This 2000GTV was built to comply with the HSCC 70s Roadsports series which stipulates the car must remain close to the original spec with only limited mods allowed to drive train and suspension and weigh the same as a production road car.
The above may suggest that performance may be a little limited…not so.
With a hot engine from probably the leading race engine builder, Chris Whelan, a crisp gearbox, gripper diff and careful assembly this GTV goes well and keeps going.
A regular at the annual Alfaholics Nurburgring trip and always travelling to and from under its own steam this GTV proves you can have race performance and road usability.
Of course the suspension is very firm, the negative camber makes public roads interesting and ear plugs are a must but hacking cross country to the rolling road was no chore.
1600Ti
A right hand drive 1600Ti, a real rarity. One of the 1st 105s delivered to the UK, unrestored and with only 37,000 miles on the clock! The car arrived post water pump failure with the radiator out and looking a bit dusty after a very long hibernation.
Being so original and straight in its body it was thought best to preserve rather than restore, bring out the patina and have a good, honest, unmessed with car.
Work started by stripping off some exterior parts e.g., bumpers, headlights and grill. The engine and suspension were then gently steam cleaned to remove 45 years of crud. From there everything was thoroughly checked and rebuilt if deemed necessary. Keeping the car original was important and luckily very few new parts were needed. Alfa Stop supplied all the necessary Dunlop brake parts and the 'service of a lifetime' parts came from Classic Alfa.
Once rejuvenated the Ti sailed through an MOT and proved to be a great drive pretty much as close to ‘as new’ as you can get and with the Rolling Stones screaming through the 8 track…….
And gained the best 105 Saloon concours award at the 2010 Shelsley Walsh Alfa Day!
Blue GTJ
This late step front GT Junior arrived partly dismantled and with the usual bodged up bodywork but with some nice touches such as the cream interior and walnut dash!
With the body sorted it was decided to keep the mods and go down the ‘outlaw’ route with the rebuild. A mildly tweaked 1750 engine arrived from top engine builder Chris Whelan and this went in with a fresh ‘box and uprated limited slip differential.
Suspension and brakes also had a few upgrades but not too many to spoil everyday and around town use.
The finished car is an understated, fast and flexible GT.
S2 GT Junior
This second series GT Junior came to the workshop as a restored shell with all components removed. The customer was a noted Maserati and Lotus restorer and race preparation specialist. The Junior was his own car and as is often the case his customers' cars were always ahead in the queue so the brief was to fit up the rolling shell so he could just drop in the engine and ‘box and drive down to the MOT station.
This was done with many trick bits from the Alfaholics catalogue.Check those front brakes, dual Lockheed master cylinders, adjustable front suspension, lightweight rear suspension and uprated diff. Quite a trick piece of kit.
Duetto Spider
This Duetto Spider started life in South Africa and was imported into the UK around 10 years ago. It was then dismantled whereupon the project stalled and was bought by Classic Alfa as the first of their ‘buy a new bodyshell’ projects. The shell duly arrived here with twenty boxes of well used parts which were restored where possible or replaced and the finished car went on to a double concours win at the National Alfa Day at Stamford Hall. You might also recognise it from the July ’08 cover of Classic & Sportscar.
It drives very well too.
1600 Ti
Another 1600 Ti. This one has been well known in club circles for many years and picked up many awards but then an old fuel pipe let go and burnt out the engine bay. It arrived from the dreaded salvage yard looking pretty bad but wasn’t too much trouble to put right. Of course the engine, ‘box and all engine bay parts had to come out but a light grit blast to the burnt area and fresh paint put it back in order and being in good condition pre fire it needed very few parts. The new owner wanted a bit more go and less lean in the corners so an Alfaholics handling kit went on and the engine has had fast road cams and a Weber carb conversion.
There was a bit of a wait for the Weber carb and manifold parts so a GTA engine and close ratio gearbox went in for a bit of fun and dyno set up.
